Trippier’s Problem Was Pochettino

Kieran Trippier’s quote carried by Sky Sports won’t be quite as salacious to regular Harry Hotspur readers as they have been to some, today.

Kieran Trippier wasn’t a wing back.

I trawled the HH archive and dug this out from November 2018, after a game against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

‘Troublesome areas are basic stuff, such as passing accuracy. Trippier in particular has problems passing the ball to players on his own side. Kieran’s average was 97.4% and now that’s down to 56.3%. 

Losing the ball is another issue. Against Wolves that day, only Lucas Moura gave the ball away more frequently.‘

Crossing and corners were another hit-and-miss area with Tripps. Against West Ham that season, only 2 out of 10 crosses and 3 out of 6 corners went to a player wearing a Spurs shirt.

There’s a veritable mine of duff stats that can be pulled out to evidence the lad’s problems, ever since he failed with his Kyle Walker impression.
