Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.
The 24-year-old versatile defender has been linked with a move away from Chelsea at the end of the season and Tottenham are reportedly a potential destination for him.
According to journalist Dean Jones, Tottenham are looking for a versatile defender and Chalobah certainly fits the bill. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to make their move for him in the coming weeks.
He said to GMS: “Spurs are on the lookout for a depth player and Chalobah really does fit the bill well.
“They obviously already have a preferred defensive partnership, but the versatility of Chalobah means he can play across that line as well as in midfield.
“And, of course, he also counts towards the homegrown status quota which is a big thing that a lot of clubs are having to consider closely over the next few months.
“Players like this are hard to find because they rarely come into the market. He’s a well educated footballer who is trustworthy and Spurs will need to move fast because other clubs in London like Fulham and West Ham could make a move.”
The defender is reportedly valued at £30 million and Tottenham certainly have the financial resources to afford him. He is capable of operating as the central defender as well as a full-back. He could prove to be a useful asset for Tottenham during injuries and rotation.
It is no secret that the North London club need to bring in defensive reinforcements during the summer transfer window. The 24-year-old defender will look to prove himself at a big club and the opportunity to play for Tottenham will be quite exciting for him. He is well-settled in English football and he should be able to make an immediate impact.
The defender is unlikely to get regular game time at Chelsea and therefore a move away from Stamford Bridge would be ideal for his development. He cannot afford to sit on the bench at a big club at this stage of his career. He will need to play more often in order to fulfil his potential.
