Our beloved leader is famed for being merciless in his valuations of Spurs players when selling.
No matter how bleak the backstory might be with our biggest dud, when Daniel Levy has a player parked on his forecourt, it’s a lovely runner with a brand-new clutch.
Christian Eriksen is now available for as little as €70million according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.
This is a far cry from numbers being bandied about in the press only a few months ago. Figures as high as €150million were cited, and Spanish sources were quoted in The Mirror, saying that Levy wanted a deal for the Dane that was similar to that awarded to Eden Hazard.
It’s unusual for Levy to take a bath in situations such as these, and so may reflect that Mauricio Pochettino wasn’t going to tolerate any delays when it came to signing Tanguy NDombele.
Was this is a reckless action by Levy, then? Not entirely. Eriksen’s heart might not have been it recently, but statistically the 27-year-old has been outstanding at Spurs.
1 – Since his debut Premier League season in 2013-14, Christian Eriksen ranks first in the competition for chances created (547), assists (60), goals from outside the box (22) and direct free-kick goals (7). Summit. pic.twitter.com/DyTYamVveW

Spot on!
ZZ to eriksen: see it out till next season (try not to work too hard) we’ll come for you for free then. I’ll pay you proper money with a nice signing on fee. Can’t you come for me in January? We’ll see. Depends if the price is right.
Here’s the nuts and bolts of it….
IF….Lo Celso signs along with Ndombele but Eriksen and Toby go…..that is a terrible window and barely standing still. Books balancing act.
He also ranks no. 1 in PL for chances created — goalscoring opportunities that weren’t converted.
Cincy,
Even if it’s true he creates more against lesser teams, how unusual that is for a playmaker? And in any case, every lesser team that parks the bus against a big 6 side needs to be broken down somehow. The record shows Eriksen finds a way more often than anyone else in the league. That’s why he’s on the radar of the biggest, most ambitious club in the world and guys like Lo Celso, etc, aren’t.
Eriksen free kicks into box were excellent but agree his corners were abysmal – no reason really. Also, quite a few ‘commentators’ have been saying what a great job Levy, ‘again!’ re business this year but seems to me same as usual. N’Dombele only replaces Dembele (and still to be proven) and with ‘young Jack’ back to Leeds, we are currently where we started last season. So where is the serious investment Levy promised Poch? Seems to me same old same old Levy wanting crazy money for outgoings but basement bargains for incomings which upsets all parties and nothing gets done until last minute panic buys! Groundhog Day
CE at 70m euros is a snip. I’d buy him. Okay his last season was nothing to shout about, but he wasn’t alone after the world cup in performing sub par. I can’t believe Mr Bungle is actually willing to drop his asking price for a change, sounds like Poch wants somebody in that’s very important to him and it depends on the CE money. If he’d gone the previous season then 150m euros would have been on the cards.
I think the lad might come good this season after a decent rest. Perhaps he’ll see RM as chance to sit on the bench for a change, just ask Bale about that – loads of opportunities for relaxing under nutter Zidane.
No. St.Etienne and Saliba himself wants to stay there next season to gain more experience. According to them it is non negotiable.
ronan,
I don’t understand how you don’t see he does those things against the teams in the bottom half of the table most of the time. He may occasionally do something against a top team in a prem match, but not when it matters. When fighting for first, or a cup title. If he can’t do it when it counts then its time to move on. This is where the stats don’t tell the whole tale. yes he is a good player but he isn’t better than Hazard for me. Why do you think Real are being so picky about the cost. because they know he isn’t worth what Levy is asking. Had he stepped up and won the CL final or played a big role in Spurs Winning the CL final. They (Real) would have paid for him. He proved everything thats being said about him there.

Sad but true about Eriksson , how many times has he turned it on in two semis and two finals ??? Never.
So he can do one, pussy.
I’m worried that we can’t sign players quickly, lo selso should be done by now, but we have to sell before we buy again. Bollocks.
Why not just once, Joe Lewis please lend money to your football club to buy a quality player.
Exactly. Stats that sit there bald and unchallengeable, wrecking every effort to rubbish him as a player. Since 2013-14, the number 1 player in the PL for:
chances created;
assists;
goals from outside box;
direct free kicks scored.
Also for amount of ground covered during matches.
That is, the most dangerous and effective creative player in the premier league. Something no other Spurs player has ever achieved. And a contribution that virtually guarantees any replacement in the no. 10 role would be a downgrade, no matter how hyped.
Time Poch and levy swallowed their pride and demonstrate now that they’ve learned the Kyle Walker lesson: tell the quiet man he’s cherished, point to the effort levy has finally made to improve the team and to help him flourish, and then offer him a contract more in line with creators at other top 6 teams (who he’s demonstrated he’s better than).
If they don’t, then the Kyle Walker lesson will have to be renamed the Kyle Walker-Christian Eriksen lesson in seasons to come.
I’m quite sceptical of assist stats when a player of Kane & Sons ability when on form are in the side.
Just because you passed to someone who does all the work to make themself a goal is that really an assist?
I see actual assists as putting it on a plate for the Striker personally.
Something none of our supporting cast rarely do.
According to recent (this morning) press reports, Spurs have gazumped the goons for the Salliba geezer.
As he purportedly a centre back does this mean Toby is off to Roma, I wonder ?
We would only need an another centre half if one of the existing was leaving ?
Rumours Rumours
Eriksons passes sideways and backwards far too often too… We need a paul scholes type creater.. Someone who turns and looks to goal or forward every time.. Not backwards and sideways
Here we go…. Can’t beat first man at a corner nonsense. Absolute garbage argument for those looking for a scapegoat. Have a look at the rest of his stats, second to none in PL for last few years. If his corners are that bad it’s down to the manager/coaching staff to take them away from him.

Just get him gone. Struth. Stroll the fuck on Christian and take your dead cornersfree kicks with you. You put the dead in dead balls
Ha ha i’d love to see his corner stats too. I’m amazed he still takes them… 7 free kicks in 7 years is also litter for a specialist. The likes of beckham, ronaldo etc more likely to bang in 5-7 free kicks every season… Erikson is world class occasionally, when he knows hes better he struts his stuff.. But the truth is hes overrated massively. When its a cup final, or a title race is on the line, or hes up against the big boys and the pressure is on, when we really need him he folds. He goes hiding, missing every time.. Hes never had competition for his place so hes had it too easy.. If only christian had the heart and aggression that danny rose has. Hed be one hell of a player. Sooner erikson jogs on the better. Surely now levys halfed his price some one will want him. I hope he goes manure
CE corners, relentlessly putting them short, low and close to the first defender in the box, why on earth that has gone on for 4-5 years is puzzling indeed
CE23, a nice little Danish motor, runs well, slightly higher kms on the clock. Well maintained by two previous owners but flogged by current owner. Very economical, low costs, runs on empty promises. Looks good in white, suit rich Spanish owner for the knock down price of 70 million euros or part ex for younger model looking for London move.
Lpve to see the stats on how many corners beat the near post!
