“I want to leave” – Boost for Tottenham as transfer target informs club he wants to leave

Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners has revealed his desire to leave the club amid links with Tottenham.

Tottenham Hotspur have been actively scouting potential signings for the upcoming transfer window.

Among the players Spurs have been linked with is Atalanta’s Koopmeiners.

According to a previous report from Italian outlet TuttoSport, Spurs have started working on a potential deal to bring the Dutchman to North London this summer.

But they will face stiff competition for his signature, with reports suggesting Juventus as well as Liverpool are both interested in the player as well.

Tottenham target Koopmeiners tells Atalanta he wants to leave

The 26-year-old is currently under contract with the Italian club until June 2027. Nevertheless, he has expressed his desire to leave Bergamo in search of a fresh challenge at his next destination.

Koopmeiners is exploring potential options for his next career move and hopes that Atalanta will receive a substantial transfer fee from his departure, considering his €40 million market value.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, he said:

“I have told Atalanta that I want to leave the club in the summer.

“I hope there will be options to consider this year… I’ve had an amazing time at Atalanta and I hope they will get a big sum.”

Koopmeiners to Tottenham?

Atalanta however would want to retain the player and are optimistic about their chances, particularly if they qualify for the Champions League next season.

With top suitors vying for his signature, there is no doubt that Koopmeiners is a quality player, as his statistics suggest.

He has scored an impressive 12 goals and provided 4 assists from a midfield role in his 34 appearances across all competitions.
