Tottenham would sign a “machine” if Nuno Santo can land this target

Tottenham has been linked with a move for Conor Coady in this transfer window and former Scotland manager, Alex McLeish, has labelled him a machine.

The former Liverpool academy star has made a name for himself at Wolves after helping them gain promotion back into the Premier League and becoming a mainstay in the competition.

He thrived under Nuno Espirito Santo at Molineux and now that the Portuguese manager has moved to Spurs, he has been tipped to follow his former boss.

Football Insider revealed earlier that Tottenham has resumed talks with Wolves to add the defender to their squad.

Spurs’ busy summer means that they could eventually add him to their squad before this transfer window shuts.

McLeish is excited at the prospect of the England international lining up for the Lilywhites and he says Spurs would get a very experienced player if they eventually complete his transfer.

“Coady’s been around and he has had great experience,” McLeish told Football Insider.

“So I don’t think there are any problems at all with Coady coming to the club. He will bring his own style and identity to the club. He’s a machine.

“Nuno had him for that period of time and he really grew into a top player with that manager.

“It’s only normal practice when you see a manager come back for one of his old charges. He’s at the peak of his powers, is Coady. For me, that is a good signing.

“It’s a manager he trusts, respects and he loves, and vice versa the manager to him.”
