Tottenham ‘would be ready’ to shell out £26m in order to land South American star

Tottenham would be willing to fork out £26 million to sign Brazilian full-back Vanderson.

The North London club have added a lot of quality to their attack as well as midfield in the ongoing transfer window. But, they haven’t done much to reinforce their backline. While they have been in talks to bring in another centre-back, Tottenham are also on the lookout for a new right-back.

According to a report from L’Équipe, Spurs are interested in the services of Vanderson and they are ready to table £26 million to sign the Brazilian full-back.

While Pedro Porro is the preferred right-back choice under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are still on the lookout for a new right-sided defender following the long-awaited departure of Emerson Royal. While they do have Djed Spence as a backup and summer signing Archie Gray can also chip in as a right-back, Spurs are still looking for a top-quality full-back.

Postecoglou wants more competition for a place in the starting XI and he feels Vanderson could challenge Porro. The Brazilian full-back has made quite a name for himself with consistent performances for AS Monaco. Tottenham are looking to prise the 23-year-old away from the French club and they ‘would be ready’ to pay £26 million to sign the South American star who had signed a new deal at the start of the year.

Monaco president Rybolovlev rarely refuses such offers and with the club completing the signing of 24-year-old Dutch full-back Jordan Teze, they seem all set to cash in on Vanderson.
