Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing Conor Gallagher this month and they are now working on a deal to secure his services.
A report from Football Insider claims that Chelsea would be willing to sell the 23-year-old to their London rivals for a fee of around £45-50 million.
Chelsea need to bring in their own signings but they will have to comply with the financial fair play regulations as well. They need to raise funds through sales and therefore they could sacrifice Gallagher this month.
Tottenham need to bring in central midfield reinforcements, especially with players like Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr away on AFCON duty. In addition to that, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been linked with a move away from the club.
Gallagher would be a solid long term acquisition for them and he could improve them immediately.
The 23-year-old’s workrate and pressing ability would be invaluable additions to the Spurs midfield. On paper, he seems like the ideal fit for Ange Postecoglou’s attacking system.
It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can come to an agreement soon.
Gallagher will probably want to continue with his boyhood club this season but the player will have to accept the move if the two clubs can work out an agreement.
Spurs will be hoping to secure Champions League qualification this season and signings like Gallagher will help them improve during the second half of the season and finish the season strongly.
