Tottenham ‘willing to compete’ with London rivals for £34m ace, ‘intense’ battle likely

By Saikat -

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson.

The 21-year-old Senegal international has been in fine form for the Spanish club this season, scoring 13 goals across all competitions.

According to a report via Fichajes, Tottenham will face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea for the attacker. Jackson is versatile enough to play anywhere across the front three and he could prove to be a quality option for both London clubs.

The report claims that Tottenham are ‘willing to compete’ with Chelsea for the 21-year-old’s signature, and the transfer battle is likely to be ‘intense’ in the coming weeks. Apparently, the striker has a £34 million release clause.

Tottenham need to bring in an attacker who will share the goal-scoring burden with Harry Kane and the Villarreal striker would be a quality option.

Chelsea have found it difficult to score goals consistently this past season and they need to bring in a reliable finisher as well.

Jackson would improve both teams and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Both Tottenham and Chelsea have missed out on Champions League qualification and they are going through a bit of a rebuild right now.

However, the move to the Premier League would be an exciting step up in the 21-year-old’s career and he would get to showcase his qualities at a high level.

The 21-year-old is likely to improve with coaching and experience. He could prove to be a long-term asset for Tottenham or Chelsea if they manage to secure his services.
