Tottenham will pursue €70m-rated South American instead of 27-yr-old PL ace in January

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for Brentford striker Ivan Toney in recent weeks.

However, a report from football transfers claims that the north London outfit have now dropped their interest in signing the 27-year-old striker and they have turned their attentions towards Brazilian international winger Raphinha.

Apparently, Barcelona are prepared to sell the player in January and they have slapped a €70 million asking price on his head.

Raphinha has not been able to live up to the expectations since joining the Spanish club and a return to the Premier League could be ideal for him.

He played his best football in England with Leeds United and he could be a key player for Tottenham as well.

The north London outfit have lost Manor Solomon and Ivan Perisic to injuries and they need to add more depth in the wide areas.

They have started the season well and Daniel Levy must back the manager in the transfer market in January so that Tottenham can sustain their form and finish the season strongly.

Raphinha will be determined to get back to his best and a return to his comfort zone could give him a huge confidence boost. He will add creativity and goals in the final third and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to pay up for him.

The €70 million asking price seems quite steep for the player and Tottenham will probably hope to sign him for a more reasonable fee.

The report claims that Barcelona could be interested in a potential swap deal involving Cristian Romero but it is fair to assume that Spurs are unlikely to sanction the departure of their best defender anytime soon.

Spurs will probably have to stump up the reported asking price if they want to sign the winger in the coming months.
