Tottenham will have to pay €30 million to sign highly-rated defender

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the Sporting defender Pedro Porro in the upcoming window.

The 23-year-old has done well for the Portuguese outfit this season and Spurs are impressed with his displays. It remains to be seen whether the Premier League side are willing to pay the asking price for him.

A report from AS (h/t Sportwitness) claims that Porro will cost €30 million in January. The player has a release clause of €45 million in his contract and therefore the asking price seems reasonable.

Porro is highly rated in European football and he has the attributes to develop into a solid Premier League defender in the future. He could add a new dimension to the Tottenham side if he joins them.

Spurs are struggling because of the lack of quality right-backs this season. The likes of Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty have been quite mediocre and Djed Spence has not had too many chances to show his quality under Antonio Conte.

Porro has shown that he can be very efficient going forward and he has 9 assists to his name this season. Conte could groom him into a top-class right back over the coming seasons.

A move to Spurs would be the ideal next step in Porro’s career and it could help accelerate his development as well. He will be up against quality attackers in the Premier League and the challenging situations will help him improve as a player.

Spurs should be able to afford the reported asking price and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.
