Tottenham Hotspur have had an eventful January transfer window so far and they have improved their squad with the signs of Radu Dragusin and Timo Werner.
The North London outfit have been linked with a move for the Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher as well. Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on their pursuit of the 23-year-old central midfielder.
The Italian journalist has revealed on Give Me Sport that Tottenham have not made an approach for the Chelsea midfielder yet, and they have not had any direct conversations with their Premier League rivals regarding a January move for the player.
Romano claims that Gallagher is likely to be an expensive acquisition, and it will not be easy to complete the deal in January.
Tottenham will now keep their options open during the remainder of the transfer window and they will be waiting to pounce if an opportunity arises. With that said, they are happy with the squad at their disposal right now, and they are not desperate to bring in signings this month.
“Tottenham are pleased with what they’ve done in the market because their moves were very smart and executed at the right time. So, now it’s time to look at the market for an opportunity. If something comes along, Tottenham will be ready. Otherwise, they’re pleased with the squad they have.
“At the moment, they’ve still not approached Chelsea for Gallagher. So, there is no direct conversation, and it remains an expensive deal for the winter transfer window. It won’t be easy at all.”
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops. They could certainly use more quality and depth in the middle of the park and Gallagher seems tailor-made for them because of his style of play.
The hard-working Chelsea midfielder would be a superb fit for Ange Postecoglou’s high intensity attacking system and he could form a quality partnership with the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma at the heart of the Tottenham midfield.
