Tottenham wants £26million Serie A star but they must pay his release clause

Tottenham is interested in a move for AS Roma captain, Lorenzo Pellegrini, and his release clause has been revealed.

The Lilywhites are targeting new players to add to their squad this summer after they made Nuno Espirito Santo their latest manager.

They remain in the hunt for several players including Dusan Vlahovic and Houssem Aouar and The Athletic has now added Pellegrini’s name to that list.

The 25-year-old plays as a central midfielder and he has risen to become the captain of his hometown club because of his fine performances for them.

He would look forward to working with Jose Mourinho ahead of the new season, but his current deal expires at the end of the next campaign.

The midfielder would ideally want to continue his relationship with his current club, but a new deal hasn’t been signed and it remains unclear if they have offered him one.

Roma’s appointment of Mourinho as their latest manager shows that they are ambitious and want to achieve big things from now on.

One way to achieve that is to keep their top players, but every player has a price and the report says Pellegrini’s current release clause is worth £26million.

That fee shouldn’t be too much for Tottenham to pay and Fabio Paratici could use his Italian influence to persuade the Italian international to move to London.
