Tottenham ‘set their sights’ on €27m-rated ace linked with Liverpool, Man Utd

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Feyenoord midfielder Mats Wieffer.

A report from Fichajes claims that Tottenham have ‘set their sights’ on the 24-year-old defensive midfielder and it remains to be seen whether they come forward with an official approach to sign him.

Tottenham will face competition from Premier League rivals, Liverpool and Manchester United.  The midfielder is valued at €27 million according to Transfermarkt and Tottenham certainly have the financial muscle to get the deal done.

It is no secret that they will have to sign a defensive midfielder at the end of the season. They need to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park. Although they have Yves Bissouma at their disposal, the Malian has put in inconsistent preferences at times this season and Spurs will need more options if they want to compete at the highest level.

The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be an exciting one for Wieffer and he will look to prove himself in the Premier League. Tottenham have an exciting project and they are pushing for European qualification. They could be an attractive destination for the midfielder.

Man United and Liverpool want Mats Wieffer

Meanwhile, Liverpool need to sign a quality defensive midfielder as well. Wataru Endo is in his twilight years and the Reds need somebody younger. The 24 year-old has played under Arne Slot, who is expected to take over at Liverpool and therefore the links with them are hardly a surprise.

Manchester United defensive midfielder Casemiro has been quite underwhelming this season and they will need to bring in a younger alternative soon. The Dutchman could prove to be the ideal acquisition. The 24-year-old could improve all three clubs in the middle of the park, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
