Tottenham to compete with Arsenal for £17 million-rated versatile defender

By Saikat -

Fenerbahce defender Ferdi Kadioglu has been linked with a move away from the Turkish club at the end of the season and Tottenham Hotspur could be a potential destination.

According to a report from HITC, Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the player since January and they could be joined by their North London rivals in the pursuit this summer. The defender is reportedly valued at £17 million, and he could prove to be a useful acquisition for Tottenham.

He is versatile enough to operate as a left-sided winger as well as a left-back. It will be interesting to see how Tottenham accommodate him in the starting lineup. They have players like Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies at their disposal.

It will be interesting to see if they decide to sell Davies in the summer and replace him with the Turkish utility man. Kadioglu is certainly better than Davies going forward and he could add a new dimension to the Tottenham attack. The 24-year-old has three goals and four assists this season.

His arrival will allow Ange Postecoglou to rotate his squad without a major drop off in quality. Udogie has been quite impressive for Tottenham this season and he has established himself as the first choice left back for the club. Kadioglu will be expected to compete with him for the starting spot if he joins the north London club.

Tottenham certainly have the financial muscle to pay £17 million for him in the summer.

Meanwhile, Arsenal need more depth in the left-back department as well. Nuno Tavares and Kieran Tierney are expected to be sold in the summer and Oleksandr Zinchenko is the only reliable left-back at the club. The Turkish defender could be the ideal addition for them.
