Tottenham vs Arsenal might be played on neutral ground as Police fear crowds defying orders

The Premier League is set to restart next month after teams voted to return to the playing field.

The Premier League will be relieved that the competition would soon get back underway. However, it hasn’t been a straightforward journey for them.

There had been several proposals that have been reviewed along the way to achieving what they have so far. One of them is the idea of teams playing their remaining games on neutral grounds.

But that proposal was rejected by the teams and police have now agreed to help the Premier League stage games on home stadiums.

However, the police still have fears that certain games might spiral out of control and they have asked the Premier League to stage those high profile games on neutral grounds. One of them is Tottenham vs Arsenal, reports the Daily Mail.

They fear that fans would defy the government’s social distancing orders to camp outside the stadium for some high profile fixtures, for example, Liverpool winning the league title as well as games in the relegation zone.

Tottenham is also involved in one of those games that the police think should be played on a neutral ground.

That game is their north London derby against Arsenal, which has always been massive for both sets of fans.

It is unclear if the Premier League would accept the Police objection and relocate the game to another venue.

On the face of it, you could be forgiven for believing this is a huge advantage for Arsenal, however, results in Germany have shown that home advantage has been eliminated with the games played closed doors and if anything, the away team now has the advantage.
