Tottenham urged to swerve move for 24-year-old attacker and focus on improving other areas

By Saikat -

Dan Bardell has urged Tottenham to drop their interest in Wolves attacking sensation Pedro Neto and focus on improving other positions on the pitch.

The North London club are looking to reinforce their attack ahead of next season and they have been linked with Wolves’ Pedro Neto for a while now. The Portuguese international’s ability to feature anywhere in attack is what attracts interest from Ange Postecoglou’s team.

While he could be a great addition to their squad, journalist Dan Bardell wants Tottenham to stop pursuing the 24-year-old’s signature and focus on strengthening other areas. Wolves have already parted ways with their skipper Max Kilman and will be receiving up to £40 million from his sale.

They no longer need to sanction Neto’s departure unless a club is willing to meet their demands of £60 million for the Portuguese winger. Kilman’s move has just complicated things for Spurs who have been in pole position for Neto’s signature.

While speaking on Tottenham News, Bardell said: “I think now that Wolves have sold Max Kilman, it would take an even higher fee to get Pedro Neto from Wolves.

“He’s a very good player and effective in the Premier League but Tottenham already have players like Johnson and Kulusevski in that position.

“I think a striker should be more of a priority, especially given that the transfer budget won’t be endless this summer.

“There are just more pressing areas to improve, no matter how good Neto could prove to be.“

While Bardell doesn’t deny the fact that Neto is an exceptional player who has been doing great for Wolves in the English top-flight, the journalist feels Spurs already have enough options on the right flank with Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski in their squad. Signing a striker should be their priority at this stage as they look to secure a long-term replacement for Harry Kane who left last summer.

Since the North London club will only have a limited budget to work with during this transfer window, Bardell feels spending around £60 million on a player who doesn’t have a guaranteed role in Postecoglou’s team doesn’t really make that much sense, it is better off to sign a player who is needed.
