A win over Southampton will give them a much-needed confidence boost ahead of the crucial Europa League quarter-final against Eintracht Frankfurt next week.
Meanwhile, Dan Kilpatrick from the Standard has now claimed that Tottenham are set to drop the likes of Micky Van de Ven, Son Heung-min and James Maddison for the upcoming game against Southampton. All three players were quite underwhelming against Chelsea, and it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back strongly next week.
Spurs already have some injury problems, and it will be interesting to see if they can field a strong enough side to beat Southampton.
The Saints are at the bottom of the table right now, and Tottenham simply cannot afford to drop points against them. It would be a devastating blow for the club if they failed to pick up all three points against the worst team in the division.
Spurs are expected to make multiple changes for the weekend clash, and it will be interesting to see how the match unfolds.
Meanwhile, Postecoglou has also confirmed that there will likely be a couple of changes for the game against Southampton, but Tottenham are unlikely to make too many changes.
He said: “As I said, it is about getting some momentum leading into the game on Thursday. We will make a couple of changes but we won’t make too many.”
Pedro Porro is expected to return to the starting lineup after being rested against Chelsea, and Ben Davies could fill in for Van de Ven. Meanwhile, the likes of Brennan Johnson or Mathys Tel are expected to start in place of Son at the weekend.
In terms of injuries, Tottenham will be without star midfielder Dejan Kulusevski because of a foot injury.
