Tottenham transfer target discusses future as his contract with Brentford is set to expire

Tottenham Hotspur will be keen on adding a midfielder that can fill the number ten role on the team, and while there are various candidates, the one that sounds the loudest is former Spurs midfielder, Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen’s contract with Brentford expires in June, and the 30-year-old states that the pursuit of winning trophies will play a significant role in deciding his next club.

The Denmark international returned to football for the first time since he suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 when he signed with Brentford in January. He spoke to the BBC about what’s next for his career when his deal with The Bees expires.

“I don’t know what the future holds,” Eriksen said. “It will be a decision from a sporting perspective but also from a family perspective, going into the decision of where we’re going to go.”

“I’ve always wanted to win trophies. I’m always on the competitive side, I always want to be the best version possible in any way, playing at the highest level possible.”

Eriksen is familiar with Tottenham since he spent significant time and was with manager Antonio Conte, with who he was with while at Inter Milan. There are various reasons to believe that the 30-year-old could have a second stint in north London, especially if they finish in the top four.
