Tottenham continues to be linked with Crystal Palace’s talented defender Marc Guehi in their efforts to strengthen their defence during the summer transfer window. Having shown interest in Guehi during the winter transfer window, Tottenham faced a negative response from Crystal Palace.
TheBoyHotspur understands that Tottenham plan to reopen negotiations during the coming summer window.
Tottenham made a serious offer for Guehi in the final days of the January transfer window, but met with resistance from Crystal Palace. The deal could potentially have reached €80 million. Tottenham will compete with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle United for the player during the summer transfer window.
Crystal Palace’s demand for a fee of £75-80 million caused other clubs to retract their offers. Mark Guehi’s contract will have only one year remaining at the end of the season, and Crystal Palace may be forced to sell the player in 2026 to avoid losing him for free.
Sources close to the player indicate that he is keen to leave CPFC during the summer transfer window and will discuss the situation with the club.
One notable aspect here, is that Spurs might well be looking to not just reinforce their backline here, but to allow the Lilywhite gaffer to utilise Archie Gray in his ideal spot. Gray has been outstanding in the backline, but that’s not his ideal position!
The English defender is considering requesting a contract until 2030 from the interested clubs.
This would be a shrewd move, and one that shows a very precise intent of getting the squad looking more organised. Whether Ange Postecoglou is still at the club come the summer, is largely irrelevant given the obvious benefits the player would bring to N17.
