Tottenham transfer boost as Atalanta identifies a replacement for Romero

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has been handed a boost in their bid to sign Cristian Romero this summer as Atalanta has now identified a replacement for him.

The Argentinian is currently on loan at Atalanta from Juventus, but they have the option of making the transfer permanent.

As they negotiate his transfer to Tottenham this summer, they are expected to take up that option before moving him on to the Lilywhites.

He was a key member of their squad as they qualified for consecutive Champions League campaigns at the end of last season.

They know his departure would leave a huge void behind and they have now identified a replacement for him.

A new report claims that they are interested in a move for Augsburg central defender Felix Uduokhai.

SPORT1 journalist Florian Plettenberg tweeted: “Atalanta is strongly interested in the central defender [Uduokhai] from FC Augsburg/Germany.

“Talks have already taken place. Price tag over €15m. He is supposed to replace Cristian Romero, who is facing a move to Spurs.”

This will come as a major boost to Tottenham’s chances of signing him as they continue to discuss his transfer with the Italians.

Uduokhai had been at the Olympics with the Germany Under23 and the transfer can be sped up now that they failed to make the quarterfinals.

Levy is the one single reason we are, and always will be failures. Worst chairman on the planet and only interested in making himself rich at the fans expense.
Oh and the cowardly saddo who keeps marking down any anti-Levy comments – you need to get a life and stop skulking around here.

Player wants to play for us. They want to sell him. He’s top drawer. Just pay the f*cking money!! He could’ve wrapped this up 10 days ago. Instead he’d rather give it the Billy big B*llocks routine. Worst ways, and most likely outcome, is that he’ll cost us the chance of signing a quality footballer. Again. Then even if by some miracle we actually nab the geezer, Levy will have sabotaged our pre season, yet again, by p*ssing about playing ’hardball’ instead of getting it done early 🤦🏻‍♂️ Absolute tosser.

Pathetic. How many times has he done this and bought cheap junk instead which we then have to get rid of because they’re not good enough?

Because he’s worth £50m and Levy would rather eat his own poo than spend that on one player.

I think people are reading too much into Winks and Dier being absent.

You have to understand Levy’s personality. He lives for the wheeling and dealing. He’s on record as saying the best day of the year is the final day of the transfer window as he sits in his office with his son and the phones are red hot.

As if you need ask1 There’s quite a good article in today’s Football 365 which I seldom read which suggests that “the painful rebuild” has finally begun. This phrase was used by Poch to the club before the CL final was played but was of course ignored. The article is quite scathing about how long it has taken Levy to get to this point in time.

Spammers close to signing Areola on loan. That’s the GK we should have gone for. Also Anderson going to Palace for 17M.It would appear those deals have been completed in a few days.So why are we taking so long?

Thinks cards are being held very closely to chests, expect a lot of movement in the next couple of weeks.

Yesterday’s squad was very telling! Hopefully minimum of four new faces in and at least five departures.

If these “reports” are credible then it kind of begs the question where is the money coming from? £47m+ for Romero and £40m for the 21 yr old striker from Fiorentina? Unless Levy was on his way to Damascas over the weekend and had one, I can only assume that the HK deal is done and dusted. Hope it’s the former. Happy days.

We need more than one new CB before the season starts in a couple of weeks. Our own little Napoleon needs to get his sticky little finger (and wallet) out.

I was kind of hoping either Dier/Sanchez could have been included in the deal…😉
