Tottenham told to ‘raise the offer’ for January target or wait until summer

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur will have to agree to Genoa’s demands if they want to sign Radu Dragusin this month.

The North London club are keen on the 21-year-old central defender but they have not been able to secure an agreement with his club.

The Italian outfit is holding out for a fee of around €25-30 million for their prized prospect. Journalist Paolo Bargiggia has now urged Spurs to ‘raise the offer’ if they want to land the Romanian during the January transfer window.

If Spurs fail to meet Genoa’s demands for the 21-year-old, the Italian club will keep the player until the summer transfer window.

He said to TV Play: “If Tottenham wants Dragusin they must raise the offer. If Tottenham is convinced and raises the offer they can take him immediately for 25/30 million otherwise Genoa will keep him until the end of the season and perhaps complete the operation in the summer.”

It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds. Spurs certainly have the financial resources to pay the reported asking price and it seems that they are hoping to sign the player for a knockdown price.

Dragusin is a prodigious talent and he could easily justify the investment in the long run.

In addition to that, Spurs are in desperate need of a central defender and they cannot afford to take any risks. Not signing a quality defender this month could result in them missing out on Champions League qualification. It would be a devastating blow for the club.

They should look to sign the talented young defender as soon as possible and plug the gaps at the back.

Dragusin will help them tighten up defensively and push for a place in the top four.
