Tottenham to return for €50m-rated La Liga star after failed January move

Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to bring in a quality goalkeeper to replace Hugo Lloris at the end of the season.

According to AS via Sportwitness, the Premier League club tried to bring in a replacement last month, but a deal for the Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou failed to materialise.

Apparently, Tottenham were keen on signing the 31-year-old goalkeeper after his splendid displays in the recently concluded World Cup in Qatar.

Bounou helped Morocco reach the semifinals of the World Cup and he has been outstanding in the Spanish league as well.

The 31-year-old is undoubtedly one of the best keepers around Europe right now as he could prove to be a quality signing for Tottenham.

The Premier League club are expected to return for him at the end of the season.

On the other hand, club legend Hugo Lloris is on the decline and unlikely to get any better. The 36-year-old is better suited to the role of a squad player now and Antonio Conte needs to bring in a quality starter in the coming months.

Apparently, Sevilla will look to cash in on the Moroccan international if they fail to secure European football next season.

The goalkeeper has a €50 million release clause in his contract and it remains to be seen whether the Spanish outfit demands the release clause to be paid in full.

It is improbable that any club would pay €50 million for the 31-year-old goalkeeper and Sevilla will have to keep the demands more reasonable in order for any transfer to go through.

It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few months now.
