Tottenham to reinforce key area after £20 million transfer decision earlier

By Saikat -

Tottenham are keen on signing another midfielder before the transfer deadline following the departure of Oliver Skipp.

While Tottenham have already made some significant signings this summer, they are looking to make a few more moves in the final days of the window. According to a report from Football Insider, the North London club are prioritising a move for a new central midfielder before the transfer window slams shut following the sale of Oliver Skipp.

Ange Postecoglou’s team have been quite active in the ongoing transfer window. Apart from bolstering their attack by bringing in Dominic Solanke for a club-record fee from Bournemouth, they have also added Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray to reinforce their midfield. Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Matar Sarr are the first choice options for the Australian manager in the centre of the park with Bergvall and Gray providing the much-needed depth.

But, the North London club are not satisfied and they are looking for more quality as well as depth in midfield. Having sanctioned the departure of Skipp to newly promoted Leicester City in a deal worth over £20 million, Spurs have freed up space in their squad and they have the budget to make another big signing. Apart from the departure of the 23-year-old, they have also parted ways with Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and the future of Giovani Lo Celso also remains uncertain heading into the final days.

Tottenham are aware that signing their top targets before the transfer deadline will be a massive challenge but they seem ready to swoop for a new midfield option.
