Tottenham to make a serious attempt to sign 23-yr-old this month

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly secured an agreement in principle with the Sporting Lisbon defender Pedro Porro regarding a January move.

However they will have to agree to Sporting Lisbon’s demands in order to sign the player this month. The Portuguese outfit are holding out for a fee of around €45 million and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to break the bank for his services.

According to Rudy Galetti, Tottenham are not prepared to give up on the chase just yet and they will try to convince Sporting Lisbon to accept a more reasonable offer before the January window closes.

Bringing in a quality full-back would improve Tottenham immensely and Porro would add a new dimension to their attack going forward.

As per O Jogo (h/t SportWitness), Spurs will launch a serious move to get the deal done for Porro this month.

The Spanish full-back has 10 assists to his name this season and he would be a major upgrade on players like Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty. The reported asking price is steep for a player who is yet to prove himself at the highest level, but the 23-year-old has the potential to justify the outlay in the long run.

Tottenham need to improve their squad in January if they want to secure a top-four finish and Porro could prove to be a transformative addition for them. It remains to be seen whether the Londoners can get the deal across the line before the January transfer window slams shut.

Spurs need to bring in a creative midfielder as well, but a full-back should be the top priority for Antonio Conte.
