Tottenham to cut their losses on this player next month

One of Tottenham’s biggest transfer flops in recent times is Gedson Fernandes and the Portuguese midfielder might see an end to his London nightmare next month.

He was the club’s first signing under Jose Mourinho and he joined the club on an 18-month loan deal from Benfica last January.

He was expected to become a key member of a struggling Tottenham team this year.

He didn’t break into the team before the end of last season and this season has similarly been tough for him.

Tottenham is doing well in the league and he isn’t one of the players that the club needs to rely on.

Portuguese publication, A Bola says that Tottenham and Benfica have both agreed for his loan deal to be terminated early.

Tottenham expected so much from him that they agreed to pay £46 million to make the loan deal permanent at the end of its tenure.

He is now set to return to Portugal, but at 21, he can back himself to get his career back on track, probably at a smaller club.

Spurs will feel smart that they didn’t sign him outright, else they would have been stuck with a big-money flop.
