Tottenham are ready to battle Crystal Palace for the services of Sporting CP forward Marcus Edwards.
Ange Postecoglou is looking to strengthen his attack ahead of next season. He wants more depth as well as quality in the final third and according to a report from Football Insider, Tottenham are keeping a close eye on their former academy star Marcus Edwards amidst interest from Crystal Palace.
The Eagles want a new winger following the departure of Michael Olise and they are preparing an offer for the Sporting CP ace who has been a consistent performer in the Portuguese top flight. While he still has two years left on his deal, Edwards is keen on securing a move back to the Premier League this summer. While Palace are gearing up to make a move, Tottenham could rival them in their pursuit.
The North London club have a history with Edwards as he was a part of their youth setup back in the day. He might not have featured for their first team but he was at the club for around nine years. They are now considering bringing him back thanks to his impressive work under Ruben Amorim at Sporting.
Last season, the 25-year-old contributed towards 19 goals (6 goals, 9 assists) in his 44 outings. Not only will he add more firepower to their attack his ability to feature on either flank as well as a number ten will give Postecoglou more tactical options. While Tottenham haven’t made a move yet, they have asked to be kept informed about his situation and could soon push for his signature.
