Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Lille defender Tiago Santos.
The under-21 Portugal defender is highly rated around Europe and his performances at the club level have attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs.
A report from TeamTalk claims that Spurs are not the only Premier League club keen on signing the defender and they will face competition from clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, West Ham and Chelsea.
It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can sign the 21-year-old right back. He could develop into a quality player for the North London club with coaching and experience.
Tottenham currently have Pedro Porro and Emerson Royal as the right-back options. Royal has been quite underwhelming since joining the club and Porro can be vulnerable defensively at times.
Signing another quality right-back could prove to be a wise decision. In addition to that, Royal has been linked with an exit from Tottenham in recent months and it remains to be seen whether he decides to move on in the summer.
Santos has proven himself to be a reliable defender for the French club and Ange Postecoglou could help him develop into a quality player in the near future. He could compete with Pedro Porro for the starting spot in the coming seasons. A move to the Premier League would be an exciting step up in his career and it could accelerate his development.
Santos has a long-term contract at Lille and he is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition.
