Tottenham ‘thinking’ of 25-year-old as ‘successor’ to key star, transfer will cost €40-50m

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has attracted a lot of criticism for his error-prone performances this season.

There have been reports that Tottenham could look to try and replace it as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper at the end of the season, and they have been linked with a number of keepers over the last few weeks

A report from Blick claims that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘thinking’ of the Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel as the potential ‘successor’ to the World Cup winner.

The 25-year-old has proven his quality in the Bundesliga, and there is no doubt that he could prove to be an exciting addition for Tottenham.

It remains to be seen whether the north London outfit are prepared to come forward with a concrete proposal to sign the Swiss international in the coming months

Kobel could cost around €40-50 million and Tottenham certainly have the finances to pay that kind of money for him

The 25-year-old could sort out Tottenham’s goalkeeping problems for the foreseeable future, and the reported asking price seems reasonable in today’s market as well.

However, the north London club will have to secure Champions League qualification if they want to attract a player of his quality. Kobel will not want to play for a club without Champions League football.

Meanwhile, the German club are hoping to tie the 25-year-old down to a new contract and it will be interesting to see what Kobel decides in the coming months.
