Tottenham the ‘hot candidate’ to sign 22-year-old, star ‘flirts with an exit’

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven.

According to the latest report from Sky Germany, the defender ‘flirts with an exit’ and Spurs are the ‘hot candidate’ to sign him.

However, the German club are yet to receive an offer for the 22-year-old defender and it remains to be seen whether Spurs follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal.

The 22-year-old Dutcman showed his qualities in the Bundesliga last season and he is certainly good enough to play in the Premier League. It will be interesting to see if he can hit the ground running at Tottenham if the move materialises.

Spurs need to tighten up defensively and they have been linked with a number of central defenders in recent weeks.

Cristian Romero was the best performer at the back for Tottenham last season and he needs a reliable partner alongside him.

It will be interesting to see if the newly appointed Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou can strengthen his backline before the summer transfer window closes.

Van de Ven has the potential to develop into a quality player for Tottenham and he is young enough to improve further. He will look to take the next step in his career with a move to England.

The Australian manager could get the best out of him in the coming seasons and help him fulfil his potential.

Spurs are keeping tabs on Edmond Tapsoba and Tosin Adarabioyo as well. All three players would be impressive additions at the back for the Londoners.
