Tottenham target set to sign a new long-term deal

In the just closed summer transfer window Tottenham was linked with a move for Southampton’s Danny Ings, however, the England international is on the verge of a new long term contract with the Saints which probably rules out any future transfer.

The Englishman has been one of the in-form strikers in the country over the last two seasons and he was one player that Spurs wanted to sign as a backup to Harry Kane.

His form means that Spurs can be confident of getting a goal from the bench if he was their back up striker, but they failed to sign him.

They have landed Carlos Vinicius, but the Brazilian only joined them on loan which means that they could have moved for Ings again in the next transfer window.

However, the Athletic is reporting that the striker is closing in on a new Southampton deal that will keep him with them for the long-term.

The striker has under two years left on his current deal and the Saints are confident that he will put pen to paper on a new deal.

The report claims that both parties are already in talks and they are looking to iron out some details soon including the length of the contract as well as a release clause.
