Tottenham suffers transfer blow with latest Romero update

Tottenham might have to turn their attention away from Cristian Romero after the defender informed them that he isn’t looking to change clubs right now.

The Juventus loanee at Atalanta has emerged as one of Tottenham’s key defensive targets this summer.

He has been in stunning form since he joined Atalanta and has just helped Argentina to win Copa America in Brazil.

The defender is on the wishlist of several top clubs including Manchester United.

Tottenham would have been confident of winning the race for his signature, considering that their new football director, Fabio Paratici, was involved in his transfer to and out of Juventus.

Corriere dello Sport as reported by Sport Witness says Paratici has called him to sell the idea of playing for Tottenham.

However, the Argentinian kindly informed him that he is not interested in making a move away from Atalanta, at least for now.

This would come as another blow to Tottenham who are also struggling to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Both players play in Serie A and Paratici won’t be happy that he is struggling to bring either of them to Tottenham so far.

It remains unclear if Tottenham will still try to convince Romero that moving to the EPL would be the best next step in his career.
