Tottenham submit bid to sign 18-yr-old from Premier League side

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing the Southampton defender Thierry Small.

According to a report from Football Insider, the London club have now submitted a bid to sign the 18-year-old left-back and the player has multiple offers on the table.

Apparently, Southampton are prepared to let the player leave this month on loan or on a permanent deal.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can secure an agreement with the Premier League club before the January window closes.

Meanwhile, the report also adds that Tottenham’s opening bid for the 18-year-old left-back has been turned down and they have been asked to return with an improved offer. It will be interesting to see if Spurs are prepared to come forward with an acceptable bid.

The 18-year-old is highly rated in England and he has a big future ahead of him.

Tottenham could certainly use more depth in the full-back positions and Small would be a superb long-term investment for them.

The defender has the quality to establish himself as a key first-team player for Tottenham in the coming seasons and he could end up saving the club millions in the transfer market if he manages to fulfill his potential.

Apparently, Tottenham performance director Gretar Steinsson is pushing to sign the player of this month and he knows the Southampton defender well from their time together at Everton.

The England under-19 international is versatile enough to play as a winger as well and he could be a useful squad player for Antonio Conte during the second half of the campaign.
