Tottenham ‘still hoping’ crucial deal can be done

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is still hoping that Kane will sign a new deal with the club in the coming weeks.

The striker is in the final year of his contract and he could leave them on a free transfer next year. It makes sense for the North London club to cash in on him the summer if he refused to sign an extension.

Kane is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world and his departure will come as a major blow for Tottenham.

The 29-year-old has carried the goal-scoring responsibility at Tottenham for years and the Premier League side will find it hard to replace them. Furthermore, he is more than just a goal scorer and his playmaking abilities have been invaluable for Tottenham in the attack as well.

The striker will probably look to join a club capable of winning major trophies, having failed to win a single trophy with Tottenham so far. It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can convince the player that they can match up to his ambitions in the coming seasons and compete at the highest level.

Tottenham are going through a period of transition right now and manager Ange Postecoglou will be expected to guide them back into the Champions League next season.

That said, keeping Harry Kane at the club will be their top priority for now.
