Tottenham steps up chase for exciting 19-year-old forward and may include a player in offer

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has stepped up their pursuit of Northampton’s Caleb Chukwuemeka as they look to add the 19-year-old to their squad this summer.

They have been targeting him in this transfer window after watching him break into the Northampton first team last season.

They are facing competition from several top Premier League clubs, but are determined to win the race for his signature.

Football Insider says their desperate attempt to sign him has seen them come up with a plan to offer a player plus cash to bring him to London.

The report says they are prepared to pay a fee that could reach £1m with add-ons for him.

If that won’t be enough to land him, they will add, striker Kion Etete to the deal.

Etete was first on the cusp of the first-team action at Tottenham in 2019, but he has made little progress since that time and Tottenham is prepared to allow him to continue his development elsewhere.

Chukwuemeka is the senior brother of Carney who is also on the verge of breaking into the Aston Villa first team.

Nuno Espirito Santo built his Wolves team around several youngsters before moving to Spurs this summer and he would look to do the same thing at Tottenham, which should give Chukwuemeka the confidence of a first-team opportunity in the near future.

Priority requirements obviously don’t come into our transfer strategy.Oh and let’s keep all the deadwood as well whilst we’re at it.

Its not that Bob it is the fact we need at least 1 CB so goalkeepers and wingers and young kids are things to get excited about after we get 1/2 CBs.
How long is this saga going to roll on ffs I thought Paratici was supposed to be the guv’nor.

We need a few 25 year olds with a proven track record of 45 games a season, 20 goals, 20 assists or 20 clean sheets.

True. As I said, history tells us it’s unlikely he’ll turn out to be anything special, but none of us can know for sure.

Sure, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t take the odd punt when the opportunity arises. History tells us it’s unlikely, but who’s to say for certain that this lad isn’t the new Jamie Vardy?

This obsession with buying punts for the future is not going to solve our problems right now is it?

The problem here is the player we’re offering Northampton is Eric Dier, isn’t it. Typical low balling from Levy with no semblance of grasp on reality.
