Tottenham step up interest in 21-year-old Ligue 1 ace after scouting him four times

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Le Havre defender Arouna Sangante.

The 21-year-old has been linked with a move away from the French club and the club’s president has claimed that several English clubs are keen on the defender.

The Senegalese defender is highly rated in Europe and it will be interesting to see if Spurs can sign him next month.

A report from Football Insider claims that Spurs have now stepped up efforts to sign the player in January after scouting him four times recently.

Sangante is the youngest captain in Ligue 1 and he has impressed with his performances and maturity this season. He would be a superb long-term investment for Tottenham if they can get the deal done.

They are in need of central defenders, especially with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven injured. Sangante could be a long-term asset for them. He would get ample game time this season due to the injury problems.

A move to the Premier League could be quite appealing for the player.

Sangante will want to compete at the highest level and Spurs will be able to offer him the platform to showcase his abilities in the Premier League. Regular football in England would help the 21-year-old improve as a player and it would be a major step up for the player as well.

Ideally, Le Havre would prefer to have the player on loan for the second half of the season after selling him in January. It remains to be seen whether Spurs are open to such a deal.
