Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from the London club in recent seasons.
Clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich have been linked with the England international but Tottenham managed to keep hold of him in the end.
The 29-year-old has now been urged to join Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.
Kane recently became Tottenham’s all-time leading goal scorer following his winning goal against Manchester City. The England international has scored 267 goals for Tottenham now and he’s undoubtedly one of the greatest players to have pulled on the Tottenham shirt.
However, Tony Cascarino believes that the 29-year-old should join a club capable of winning major trophies so that he can cement his legacy in the world of football.
“If I were in Kane’s boots, and had the choice of all the teams around Europe – which I believe he will – I would choose Paris Saint-Germain,” he told The Times.
“They are filled with world-class players, are ambitious, and I think Kane could build a wonderful partnership with Kylian Mbappé. Together they would be formidable. Plus, importantly, the club has a real appetite to win the Champions League. That’s a trophy that carries real prestige and achievement.
“Going abroad could be a fresh and different challenge. The environment at top European sides is different to Tottenham too. Real Madrid win trophies in their bad years; if you don’t win a league or Champions League, it’s considered a failure for Madrid, likewise for Bayern Munich. Of course, either of those would be great for both him and the clubs. Whichever club it is, Kane has to put his foot down and move for the sake of himself.”
Paris Saint-Germain certainly have a number of world-class players at their disposal and signing a world-class forward like Kane will benefit both parties. He could be the missing piece of the puzzle for them as they look to win the Champions League.
It remains to be seen whether Kane is prepared to move on from Tottenham at the end of the season.
Manager Antonio Conte has been linked with a move away from Tottenham with his contract expiring in the coming months.
The Italian’s departure could force Kane to consider his long-term future at Tottenham as well. Currently the England international has a contract with the London club until the summer of 2024.
If Conte leaves the club at the end of the season, Kane might feel that Tottenham’s chances of winning silverware will go down considerably and he might look to join a better team in the summer.
