Tottenham star ruled out for six to eight weeks with knee injury

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt a major injury blow with goalkeeper Hugo Lloris set to be sidelined for several weeks with a knee injury.

The 36-year-old picked up an injury during the 1-0 win over Manchester City last weekend and he will be sidelined for six to eight weeks.

Fraser Forster is expected to start in his absence and it will be interesting to see how the injury blow affects Tottenham during this crucial stage of the season.

Lloris has been criticised for his error-prone performances this season and there is no doubt that the 36-year-old has regressed in recent months. He is no longer the keeper he used to be, but Lloris remains a key member of the dressing room and Spurs will certainly miss his leadership and experience on the pitch.

As per The Daily Telegraph, there were fears that the player could be ruled out for the season but he is now expected to return in two months. Scans revealed that the player has damaged his ligaments. The Frenchman will miss important Champions League games against AC Milan and the derby game against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Spurs will be desperate to secure a top-four finish this season and the last thing Antonio Conte needs is for an injury to derail Tottenham’s season. Forster has the quality to step up in the absence of the World Cup winner and who knows, it might prove to be a blessing in disguise given Lloris’s dip in form this season.
