Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Yves Bissouma wasted no time returning to London after sustaining an injury during Mali’s AFCON qualifier against Eswatini, where he had opened the scoring.

Desperate to impress manager Ange Postecoglou, Bissouma quickly flew back for an injury assessment, according to London World.

With the crucial North London derby against Arsenal just days away, early reports suggest that Bissouma could be sidelined for at least three weeks, dealing a significant blow to Tottenham’s midfield.

He has been in fantastic form recently, finding the back of the net in both of Mali’s international fixtures during the break. Last month, he also scored for Tottenham in their dominant 4-0 victory over Everton, with a stunning shot from outside the box.

Since joining Spurs from Brighton, the Mali international has worked hard to establish himself as a key player. Last season, he featured in 28 matches, playing every game he was available for, highlighting the trust Postecoglou places in him.

His energy and presence in midfield have become crucial to the team’s structure, and his absence will be keenly felt if the injury keeps him out for an extended period.

With a contract running until 2026, Bissouma is set to play a pivotal role in Tottenham’s future. Postecoglou will undoubtedly be hoping for a swift recovery as Spurs aim to compete for domestic and European titles this season, with Bissouma’s contributions vital to their ambitions.
