Tottenham staff want 50-year-old to replace Conte if he leaves

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte will be out of contract at the end of the season and the London club have not managed to agree on an extension yet.

The 53-year-old Italian has improved the club considerably since his arrival, but his long-term future is in serious doubt.

According to a report from 90 Min, a section of the club’s board are looking to bring Mauricio Pochettino back to the club if Antonio Conte ends up leaving at the end of the season.

The report claims that some of the staff are not keen on handing the Italian manager a lucrative contract in the coming weeks.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.

Conte is a world-class manager and his departure will certainly come as a blow for Tottenham. The Londoners have backed the Italian manager with a number of signings since his arrival and it would be quite surprising if Conte decided to leave the project midway.

The Italian is an ambitious manager who will be hoping to guide Tottenham to a trophy before pursuing other adventures.

On the other hand, Pochettino remains a fan favourite at the London club and his arrival would not be a bad option either. The Argentine manager is currently out of a job and he could be an inexpensive replacement for Conte.

Pochettino guided Tottenham to a title challenge and a Champions League final during his time at the club, and it will be interesting to see if he gets to return to the Premier League club in the summer.
