Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly closing in on the signing of the Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
According to a report from Fotospor, the London club have secured a gentleman’s agreement with the 24-year-old goalkeeper.
Bayindir will be a free agent at the end of the season and he is set to move to the Premier League club as the long-term replacement for club captain Hugo Lloris.
The 36-year-old Frenchman has not been at his best this season and his error-prone performances have cost the London club valuable points in the Premier League. Antonio Conte needs to replace him as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper and it remains to be seen whether the 24-year-old can make an immediate impact at his new club.
Bayindir has done quite well for Fenerbahce and he could prove to be a bargain on a free transfer.
Tottenham have been linked with a number of keepers in recent months and they will be delighted to have secured an agreement for the 24-year-old.
Bayindir is entering his peak years and he could prove to be a bargain acquisition for Tottenham in the coming seasons.
The 24-year-old will be hoping to make an immediate impact in the Premier League and it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to English football quickly.
Competing against top-class attackers in the Premier League will only help the 24-year-old goalkeeper improve and fulfil his potential.
Apparently, the goalkeeper was a target for Newcastle United as well but the Londoners have managed to steal a march on their rivals and secure an agreement with the player.
Newcastle reportedly made a move to sign the player back in 2021 but settled for the former Burnley keeper Nick Pope instead.
