Tottenham set to appoint manager with five trophies in the last two seasons

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur are set to appoint Ange Postecoglou as their new manager.

The 57-year-old Australian manager has been linked with a move to the north London club in recent weeks and it appears that a deal is now close.

According to David Ornstein from the Athletic, the likes of Arne Slot, Julian Nagelsmann and Xabi Alonso were considered as potential replacements for Antonio Conte but Spurs have now finalised Postecoglou as his replacement.

The Australian has done an impressive job at Celtic over the last couple of seasons and he has guided them to five trophies in that time.

His attacking approach could be an instant hit at Tottenham next season. Tottenham have a number of quality attackers at their disposal and they could certainly benefit from having a manager with a progressive approach.

Antonio Conte was heavily criticised during his time at the club because of his defensive style of play and it will be interesting to see if Postecoglou can get the best out of the current Tottenham squad.

Conte struggled to get the best out of players like Son Heung-min and Richarlison last season. Dejan Kulusevski had a mediocre campaign as well. Harry Kane had to carry the Tottenham attack all by himself, and Postecoglou will be expected to get the best out of the Tottenham attackers next season.

His exploits at Celtic have attracted a lot of praise and the move to Tottenham will be an exciting step up in his career.

The 57-year-old has the experience to manage a top club like Tottenham, and it remains to be seen whether he can make his mark in the Premier League now.
