Tottenham scouts ran the rule over €50m-rated midfield ace on Saturday

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the AC Milan defensive midfielder Sandro Tonali.

According to a report from 90Min, Tottenham scouts were in attendance when AC Milan were up against Roma this weekend. The club officials were keeping tabs on the 22-year-old midfielder.

Tonali has been an important first-team player for Milan and he is highly rated in Italian football.

The 22-year-old is expected to develop into a quality midfielder for club and country and he could prove to be a solid, long-term acquisition for Tottenham.

The North London giants need to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park. They signed Yves Bissouma from Brighton and Hove Albion at the start of the season, but the Mali international has been quite underwhelming so far and they should look to bring in a quality defensive midfielder this summer.

Tonali seems like the ideal option and he could be a key performer for Tottenham in the coming seasons if he manages to adapt to English football quickly.

Apart from his ability to win the ball back and break up the opposition attacks, the 22-year-old Italian international will help create goalscoring opportunities for his teammates as well. The midfielder has two goals and nine assists to his name across all competitions this season.

He has a contract with AC Milan until the summer of 2027 and he is valued at €50 million by transfermarkt. He is unlikely to be a cheap acquisition, and Tottenham might have to pay a premium for his services.
