Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup.
According to Give Me Sport, Tottenham scouts have watched the player in action this season and they are impressed with his performances. The North London club are closing in on a deal to sign the Genoa defender Radu Dragusin and they watched Frendrup while watching the Romanian defender in action.
Tottenham need to sign a central midfielder and the Denmark international could prove to be a useful option. He is versatile enough to operate as a defensive midfielder as well as a central midfielder. Apart from his ability to break up the opposition attacks and protect the central defence, he will add creativity to the side as well.
Frendrup has five assists across all competitions this season. He is still only 22 and the player is likely to improve with coaching and experience. He could develop into a long-term asset for the London club if they can secure his services this month.
The midfielder has a contract with the Italian club until the summer of 2026 and it remains to be seen whether Genoa are prepared to sanction his departure of this month. They have already weakened the squad with the departure of Dragusin and they might not want to lose another key player in the same window.
It will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
Tottenham will need to plug the gaps in their squad in order to finish the season strongly and a central midfielder in January would improve them immensely.
