Tottenham ‘retain’ interest in 26-yr-old who ‘came close to joining’ last season

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore.

The 26-year-old Spanish international joined Barcelona on a loan deal during the January transfer window and the Spanish outfit had the option to make the move permanent.

However, Barcelona chose not to exercise the option and the player has now returned to Wolves.

According to a report from 90min, Spurs ‘retain’ interest in signing the Wolves speedster who ‘came close to joining’ the club in January.

The Spanish international winger can operate as a full-back as well and it seems that Antonio Conte is looking at him as a potential option for the wing-back position.

Traore will add pace and flair to the Tottenham side going forward and it remains to be seen whether the Londoners are prepared to sign him this summer. His versatility will also be an added bonus for the side.

The Premier League club recently completed the signing of Djed Spence from Middlesbrough, who is expected to play a similar role next season. Furthermore, the Londoners already have the likes of Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal at their disposal.

It would be fair to assume that Spurs will only make a move for Traore if they can get rid of the likes of Doherty and Emerson in the coming weeks.

However, it will also be interesting to see how Conte manages the game time of Spence, should the Spaniard arrive. The youngster will be hoping for ample game time at his new club and he might not appreciate being an understudy to Traore next season.
