Tottenham receive boost in their pursuit of 38-year-old managerial target

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on the Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as a potential replacement for Antonio Conte.

A report from Football Insider claims that the 38-year-old manager is ready to join a Premier League club at the end of the season. The development will certainly come as a boost for the London club.

The 53-year-old Italian manager will be a free agent in the coming months and he has not signed an extension with Tottenham yet. Conte was involved in an explosive post-match press conference recently where he criticised his players and the club for the lack of attitude and ambition.

The Italian is expected to move on in the summer and he has been linked with the return to Italy.

Meanwhile, Amorim has done an impressive job at the Portuguese club and he could prove to be a quality acquisition.

The 38-year-old was reportedly on the radar of Premier League rivals Chelsea at the start of the season but the Blues ended up appointing Graham Potter as their manager instead.

Amorim has already helped Sporting CP win a league title and his side are currently in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League after defeating Arsenal in the last round.

The 38-year-old has certainly caught the attention of a number of top clubs with his exploits in the Portuguese league and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham are prepared to submit a concrete proposal for him in the coming months.
