Tottenham receive a massive boost following Pep Guardiola comments

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham has been handed a boost in their bid to keep hold of Harry Kane beyond this summer after Pep Guardiola admitted that they cannot afford him.

Kane has asked to leave Tottenham and only a few clubs can afford the England captain.

Manchester City has the money and they also need to replace the legendary Sergio Aguero who left them at the end of last season.

Tottenham is hell-bent on keeping hold of Kane for another campaign and they have named a high price tag for any club insisting on signing him.

Spurs reportedly want £150m to sell their leading goalscorer and they might get their wish to keep hold of him for another season.

This is because Guardiola spoke about signing a new top striker for Man City this summer and he insisted that they have also been affected by the coronavirus pandemic and wouldn’t be able to afford the huge transfer fees being quoted for the likes of Kane and Erling Haaland.

Guardiola said via Sun Sports: “At the prices [quoted] we are not going to buy any strikers. It is impossible, we cannot afford it.

“All clubs are struggling financially; we are not an exception.”

Harry Kane is not a house. He is not the property of Spurs, though Levy would probably like that. We don’t own him because you can’t own people – so if he wants to go and there’s a suitable offer, he will go.

If selling your house & someone said, “here’s 66.6% of your asking price, take it or leave it,” how many would consider it a ‘warning shot’ & panic & sell, too cheap?
(Sancho goes for £73m & HK not worth more than £100m??)
Sorry but not sure Mr. Levy would fold like a soggy cardboard box with these Pep/Abu Dhabi XI’s mind games, when he could still probably ask/get said £100m next summer when Harry still has TWO years left on his contract.

Think you may be right that any club would demand Harry formally hands in a written request to force the issue, IF that would help get a deal done & hope to lower his price?

City are struggling? Hahaaaaahahahaaaa!!

Kane cannot waste anymore of his career, he must go. It’ll be tragic for him to rot in Levys anti football property venture.

Don’t forget Levy’s already stated , no incomings till we sell , ENIC are not prepared to invest , it’s gonna be a long summer ☹️

What’s the rush if Levy doesn’t really want to spend any money. For all the bolloxs he came out with nothing will change.Expect possible last minute Poundland bargain basement haggling if anything.

Exactly, City could find a couple of billion for a huge squad rebuild down the back of the sofa and UEFA wouldn’t bat an eyelid.

I suspect this is more of a warning shot for Levy (and maybe Kane – pressure Levy or the move isn’t happening). “You’re not getting 150M. 100M – take it or leave it and we get Haaland.”

Got to laugh at Pep “struggling financially”. United are about to complete the signing of Sancho for some 75M, but the sheikh-backed club are in dire straits, yeah right.

umm….thats a call for Levy to bring his price down…..
Kane will be on the bench against City and the squad will be the same…..this is so depressing, I see other teams are starting to do business, what is it we are waiting for exactly – there’s only 3 teams left in the tournament, we have an extra employee to find new players but nothing will change..
