Tottenham ‘really like’ 24-yr-old Premier League ace as a replacement for key star

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Brighton and Hove Albion goalkeeper Robert Sanchez at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old Spaniard has been an excellent acquisition for the Seagulls, and he has established himself as one of the most reliable keepers in the Premier League. It seems that Tottenham are looking at him as a potential replacement for club captain Hugo Lloris.

According to a report from TeamTalk, Jordan Pickford and Ilan Meslier are on their shortlist to replace the experienced Frenchman as well.

Journalist Graeme Bailey said to TeamTalk: “Hugo Lloris has a deal until 2024, but it is highly unlikely he will be Tottenham number one after this season. He has been up and down and it is understood Tottenham are looking for his long-term replacement. And we can reveal that a number of options are in the Premier League.

“They have been linked to the likes of Jordan Pickford, Robert Sanchez and Illan Meslier, and these are the options for them. They really like Sanchez at Brighton – but it is likely that won’t be until the end of the season.”

“Lloris will go to the World Cup finals, and it will be interesting to see how he goes in Qatar.

“But barring injury and a real collapse in form, he will get the rest of the season at Tottenham – which will almost certainly be his last as number one.”

Lloris has a contract with the Premier League club until the summer of 2024, but he might need replacing at the end of the season. The Tottenham captain has not been at his best and he has made a few costly mistakes.

It is evident that Spurs will have to start planning for a future without him and all three players could prove to be quality additions.

While Sanchez is the most accomplished on the ball out of the three, Pickford is also a solid Premier League goalkeeper who has proven his quality at Goodison Park. Meanwhile, Meslier has been a key player for Leeds since joining the club and he has a massive future ahead of him.

It will be interesting to see who they end up signing eventually.
