Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping tabs on the Leicester City winger Kasey McAteer.
According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Tottenham are monitoring the 22-year-old winger and they could look to make a move for him in the coming months.
Speaking on The Spurs Chat podcast (h/t Spurs Web), Ben Jacobs said: “The other player Tottenham are looking at, a different type of player to the ones we have mentioned is Kasey McAteer at Leicester,” Jacobs said. “They really like him.
“He started well for Leicester, but then he got an injury, with Leicester flying they’re likely to get promotion to the Premier League. I’m not sure anything is possible there in 2024 just because he’s in the right place for his development.”
McAteer has been an important player for Leicester City in the Championship this season, scoring five goals in 15 appearances across all competitions.
The talented young winger could develop into a key player for the Foxes in the coming seasons and he can do well in the top flight as well.
Tottenham could look to sign him as a future prospect and it remains to be seen whether the Foxes are prepared to sanction his departure.
The versatile winger is capable of operating operating on either flank and he can slot in as the central attacking midfielder as well.
Tottenham could certainly use more quality and depth in the attack and the 22-year-old would be a long-term investment for them. They could groom him into an important first team player in the coming seasons.
The opportunity to play for one of the biggest clubs in the country will certainly be hard to turn down for McAteer and he will be attracted to the idea of joining Tottenham if the opportunity presents itself.
The winger has a contract with Leicester City until the summer of 2025 and the Foxes will be under pressure to sell him at the end of the season. They will not want to lose him on a free transfer next year and it would make sense for them to sell him this summer.
