Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign the Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie at the end of the season.
According to a report from Fichajes, Tottenham are hoping to sign the 26-year-old midfielder who has struggled to hold down a regular starting berth at the Spanish club. Kessie has started just four games in the league for Barcelona and he needs to leave the club in order to play more often.
Tottenham need to add more depth to their midfield and the 26-year-old could prove to be a quality acquisition.
He has the physical attributes to succeed in the Premier League and Antonio Conte is reportedly the main supporter of his arrival. The Italian wants Spurs to sign the physically imposing midfielder in the summer.
The report further states that negotiations between the two clubs ‘could begin in the coming days’ and Tottenham are looking to put an offer close to €30 million on the table.
Barcelona signed the player on a free transfer and therefore it is fair to assume that the reported amount could be tempting for them. The Spanish giants are going through financial difficulties and an offer of €30m for a fringe player could prove to be difficult to turn down.
Kessie needs a move to get his career back on track and Conte could help him get back to his best at Tottenham. The transfer would be ideal for all parties and it remains to see how the situation develops. A move to the Premier League would be the fresh start the player needs right now.
