Tottenham ‘ready to put’ £34.7m ‘on the plate’ for 26-year-old title winning star

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret.

The 26-year-old has been a key player from Napoli this season and he has helped him win the Scudetto. His performances have attracted the attention of the London club, who are looking to bring in a goalkeeper this summer.

Club legend Hugo Lloris has been underwhelming this season and he has cost his side valuable points with his error-prone performances.

The 36-year-old Frenchman is not good enough to start for Tottenham every week and the London club must look to bring in a replacement if they are serious about challenging for major trophies.

Meret could prove to be a quality acquisition for them. The 26-year-old goalkeeper is at the peak of his powers and the Italian could prove to be the ideal long-term replacement for the Frenchman.

Having won the league title with Napoli this season, Meret will bring valuable winning experience into the Tottenham dressing room next season.

According to NapoliCalcioLive, Tottenham are now ‘ready to put’ a €40 million (£34.7m) offer ‘on the plate’ in order to sign the Italian goalkeeper.

The report further states that Napoli could find the offer too tempting to turn down and they have already identified potential alternatives. Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is reportedly on their shortlist to replace Meret at the end of the season.

The Italian goalkeeper has already proven himself with Napoli in Italy and he will be hoping to test himself at a higher level now. A move to the Premier League would be the ideal next step in his career.
